“Milk” filming...
Gus van Sant’s production of “Milk,” the story of San Francisco’s first gay supervisor, Harvey Milk, was being shot on-location in the Castro, even going so far as to reclaim Harvey’s original camera shop. Before filming ended, I wanted to catch the period signs and some of the filming. I particularly like “March Hair” and “Toad Hall.” It’s nice having a vibrant Castro Theatre marquee again, too...
Amended Oct. 28th - Opening Night of the film took place at the Castro Theatre last night, with much fanfare. We’re very excited to see it ourselves, although we won’t be able to ‘til Thanksgiving.
